Sunscreen, reduced to the four things that change the outcome
Instagram caption
Sunscreen discussion is dominated by the SPF figure, which is the variable that matters least once you are past a certain point. SPF describes protection against ultraviolet B under a laboratory application thickness that almost nobody achieves in life. Four other things do more work. First, broad spectrum, because ultraviolet A drives much of the photoaging and passes through window glass. Second, quantity: the tested amount is roughly two milligrams per square centimetre, which for a face and neck is about a third of a teaspoon, and most people apply a quarter of that and therefore get a fraction of the labelled protection.

Call to action. A third of a teaspoon for face and neck. Measure it once so you know what it looks like.
