Surgical fees are quoted in writing at the end of the consultation, itemised into the surgeon's fee, the anaesthesia fee and the facility fee, with the revision policy stated on the same page. That policy is written down before you have any reason to need it, which is the only time it can be written honestly. We do not quote a number over the phone before an examination, because the operation has not been determined yet and a figure given before a plan is a guess presented as a price.

Second opinions are a large share of this practice and they are welcome without qualification. If you have a plan from another surgeon, bring it. Bring the photographs, bring the quoted technique, bring the notes you took. You will not be asked to justify seeking another view and you will not hear anything disparaging about the first surgeon, because we are looking at the same face and reasonable people reach different plans from the same anatomy. What you will get is the reasoning behind whatever we would propose, including where it agrees with what you have already been told. That happens often. A consultation that ends with go back to the first surgeon, that plan is sound, is a good use of ninety minutes and it has happened more than once this month.
